Desire and Fate

However much we may pretend otherwise, we are all tribal, just as our ancestors were. The moral innovation of modernity is that unlike our ancestors we can choose our tribes, entering them and later, should we so desire (and desire is the key word) exiting from them almost solely on the wings of our own self-identification.
